Critical Thinkers

All TCWC members are cordially invited to join the Critical Thinkers. We read and discuss thought-provoking, relevant and sometimes controversial titles, including both fiction and nonfiction books. Join the fun and keep those brain cells sharp!

Wednesday, April 25th, 7:00 p.m.

Susan Zadeh - 301 Inverness Drive

Would you like to form close friendships with a group of your peers?  Do you enjoy reading mostly non-fiction and discussing topics that are interesting and shaping our world?  We have a few openings in our group and would like to include you as a new member.  Our book selections are suggested and chosen by our members.

Breaking from our usual tradition, we will have a colorful slide presentation
inspired by this month's book selection. Part history, part travelogue, we will travel along the old Silk Road caravan route from Afghanistan through Iran into Turkey examining the art, language, architecture, and cultural milieu of
this fascinating period in history.

My Name is Red
, is a 1998 novel by Turkish Nobel laureate Orhan Pamuk. The main characters are miniaturists in the Ottoman Empire, one of whom is murdered in the first chapter. The novel blends mystery, romance, and philosophical puzzles, illustrating the reign of Ottoman Sultan Murat III during nine snowy winter days in 1591.
