Thimble Chicks
What is a Thimble Chick? A Thimble Chick is a member of TCWC that loves to make quilts.
We meet the 4th Tuesday of each month from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. (or as long as you are able to stay) at the Fellowship United Methodist Church, 101 Trophy Club Drive.
Each person works on her own projects and then they share the techniques they have learned. They don’t teach quilting but rather, encourage new members to take quilting classes at a quilt shop. Quilter’s Dream has good classes for beginners, if you are interested.
We have varied activities such as workshops, block exchanges, and field trips. For those who choose to, we will also make baby quilts or even larger quilts for charity. To join or for additional information, contact Dee Rose.
In years past each Thimble Chick has made blocks in a pattern of her own choosing. A quilt block is different colors and fabrics sewn together to make a pattern such as Log Cabin, Ohio Star or Grandmother’s Flower Garden. The blocks are then sewn together to create a quilt. Last year each person made 16 blocks of red, white and blue in whatever pattern she chose to use in order to exchange blocks with the other quilters, much like a Christmas Cookie Exchange!
At the end of April the Thimble Chicks are going on a quilting retreat in Weatherford. It is always good therapy to get away for a few days with fellow quilters. If you would like to visit the Thimble Chicks, feel free to contact Dee.
