TCWC Community Service Projects

The Service Projects Committee, along with numerous TCWC volunteers, was very busy in August!  The volunteer group included Rose Kirk, Carla Beckman, Kelley Class, and Lisa Angeli along with her mother, Catherine Dick, Regan Gerard, Carol Jansen, Eliza Pate, Lin Greene, Caryl Ann Jacobs, Rhonda Labor, Cassie Brothers Francis, Wanda Baham, Jeanette Tiffany, Kim Farrell, Michelle Smith, Sally Freeman and Martha Moore.  Together these 19 women logged more than 70 volunteer hours in 2 mornings stuffing backpacks with school supplies at Pike Middle School in Justin.  Thanks in large part to the efforts of TCWC; Northwest Independent School District reached their goal of over  800 backpacks ready for student delivery at the Back to School Fair which occurred on Saturday, August 18th.    Way to go gals!  A big thank you to all who participated with this worthwhile project.

The Service Projects Committee has voted to “adopt seniors” as our year end Christmas endeavor.  We will accomplish this goal as a three phase plan working in conjunction with Metroport Meals on Wheels (MMOW) a non-profit located in Roanoke.   Many of the TCWC members are very familiar with MMOW and the excellent work they do in Trophy Club, Roanoke and the surrounding area.  Our three phase plan includes:

  • Adopt a Senior from the Angel Tree located at Sadie’s Consignment & Resale located at 432 US377 in Roanoke.  The Angel Tree will be in place by late October and we will send out information in weekly eblasts encouraging TCWC members to adopt from the tree in October and November. TCWC  members should then return Angel Tree gifts to Sadie’s for disbursement.
  • MMOW needs assistance wrapping and delivering Angel Tree gifts at a time and date yet to be determined so again we will send out info in the weekly eblasts seeking volunteers as more specific information is available.
  • MMOW has a “Staples for Seniors” Pantry Project.   We will collect food items for the Pantry  throughout October and November.  You may bring items to the October and November TCWC monthly meetings.  You can also contact Sally Freeman at text 214-668-3150 or via email for donation pickup from your location.  A complete list of food items follows, we just ask that you check expiration dates and provide individual serving sizes.

The Service Projects Committee thanks all TCWC members in advance for their generosity to our seniors!

Below are organizations for which we will collect donations throughout 2018.

Please keep all of these wonderful services in mind, and the people who work daily to help others. If you feel passionate about community service and helping others, please feel free to join us!  We meet monthly. Dates are emailed in advance.

The Service Projects Committee wishes to thank everyone who made donations to the Humane Society over the past couple of months.  We were able to donate many large bags of cat and dog food along with much needed blankets, towels and other items used by our "furry friends".

The Service Committee is currently obtaining information from NISD as we hope many members would enjoy organizing school supplies for needy students for the upcoming school year.
Watch your e-blasts over the summer for more information as it becomes available.
The Service Committee has decided our Christmas Project will include the elderly.  We have just begun the planning stages of this Project so we will post further details as soon as they are available.
Members of the Service Project Committee include Sally Freeman - Chair, Carol Jansen, Carla Beckman, Rhonda Labor, Kelley Class and Ruth Germany.
